Madhu’s Brilliant in Southall Opens
It all began in Nairobi, Kenya, where Bishan Das Anand in 1935 started a catering business. He later opened the legendary Brilliant Hotel in 1957 and established himself as a successful name in the industry.
Inspired by the work of their grandfather, Madhu’s Brilliant was opened in 1980 by Sanjay and Sanjeev Anand aged 17 and 16 respectively.
The name Madhu’s was derived from the nickname of their father Jagdish Kumar Anand. Their mother Krishna Kumari Anand, also the head chef was instrumental in the success of Madhu’s Brilliant.
In 2004, the family embraced a new chapter by rebranding the business as Madhu’s, a name that continues to honor its heritage while evolving to meet the expectations of modern diners.
Today, Madhu’s stands as a symbol of excellence, blending timeless traditions with innovative dining experiences.
Madhu’s UK has flourished into an emblem of culinary excellence, rooted in tradition and elevated for today’s discerning palate. From its humble beginnings in Nairobi to becoming a cornerstone of British Asian cuisine, Madhu’s has crossed borders and bridged cultures.

table service for the first time ever in banqueting.
Madhu’s Brilliant become the first Asian Caterer
to sign an exclusive contract with a hotel.
Madhu’s Brilliant rebranded to Madhu’s Limited.
Sanjay Anand awarded ‘Industry Personality of the Year’
Award by best in Britain Awards.

Indian food counter in Harrods.
Madhu’s became the specialist Indian food suppliers to the
House of Commons, in the Speakers Apartment & Harvey Nichols.
Sanjay Anand became the Judge for the ‘Tiffin Cup’
competition within the House of Commons.
Sanjay Anand awarded an Member of the British Empire by the Queen for his services to the hospitality industry.
Madhu’s awarded ‘Best Outside Caterer’at The Cobra Good Curry Guide Awards.

Madhu’s became the first ever outside specialist food suppliers to The Savoy Hotel, after 147 years of strict in-house catering rules.
